"The pandemic created a heightened awareness of supply chain risk," said Tony Uphoff, president and CEO of Thomasnet.com, a digital media and marketing services company that caters to industrial buyers and suppliers. "Before COVID, no one had any idea where PPE, surgical gowns, scrubs and masks were manufactured. Then, all of a sudden, they learned they were made within 300 miles of Wuhan, China and that their supply chain could get disrupted.

Assembly Magazine: Gender Gap - Women Fill One-Third of Manufacturing Industry Jobs, One-Fourth of Leadership Positions

A new study from Thomas and Women in Manufacturing (WiM) shows that  1 in 3 manufacturing professionals and 1 in 4 manufacturing leaders are women. The medical-healthcare sector has the highest female-identifying employee presence at 54 percent. The industries with the lowest representation include the automotive (29 percent); energy, utilities, oil and gas (28); and aerospace and defense (24) sectors.
